If you are planning an event or project that will require portable toilets, you probably have some questions.
Here are some answers to the most commonly asked questions about porta-potty rentals.
Do I need a permit?
While most places don’t require a portable toilet rental permit or license, some exceptions do exist. Your town or homeowner’s association may have restrictions as to where they can be placed and how long they can be there. Check with your local municipal offices or HOA to make sure you don’t need special permission for temporary restrooms.
How much space do I need for a portable toilet?
If you need only one unit, it doesn’t take up much space. But you will likely need to make sure there is space for the truck to deliver it.
If you need multiple potties, like 5, 10 or more, there will be some planning involved which will depend on the space you have and the number of units you need. Your portable toilet supplier can help you decide how much space you need based on the available space, type of event and expected number of people.
How much space is needed to deliver and set up portable toilets?
If you have a shorter event, like just one or two-days, then it’s good enough if the delivery truck can get to the spot where you plan to place each portable toilet. But if your event goes on for a few days, pumping trucks will also need access later in the event to remove waste, restock toilet paper and sanitizers. Your portable rental supplier will be able to develop a plan for your event.
How many portable toilets do I need?
The number needed depends on three things:
- The number of people attending the event.
- Male to female ratio.
- Duration of the event.
Short answer: one unit per 50 people is usually sufficient.
